relaxing

Gabe enjoying a pop tart and watching Chuggington on my bed
Gabe's new best buddy, Ernie. He had to "earn" Ernie as a potty prize for staying dry all day. He is doing well with potty training. He even stayed dry all night twice this week! He still hasn't gone poo poo on the potty yet. Ahhh!

sandbox and sewing

Here is our "ghetto" sandbox (as Nathan thinks of it). I happen to think it is brilliant. Re-purposing an underbed organizer seems better to me than spending money on something that we don't need. =) Gabe loves it.

His cheesy "smile for the camera" smile.
I've been on a bit of a sewing kick lately. I'm learning a little each day. Here are a couple of purses that I made.

And some dinosaur pajama pants for Gabe.

Busy weekend

Gabe and I made this "shed" yesterday for his lego trains. Fun!
This was my final week of cake class and this was my final project. I really enjoyed the class, and hope to be able to take the advanced class at some point.
Tonight at church we had a potluck, church-wide birthday party. Below are some cutie-pie pictures of Gabe eating watermelon. Gabe sat at the kids table to eat his dinner and did a great job. There was a 5 year old girl trying to feed him his dinner. Ha ha.

Lambie

Here is Gabe's newest best buddy, Lambie. Lambie pretty much goes with us everywhere now.
This is Lambie in her "bed" with her blanket all "snuggie" as Gabe says. I have to "snuggie" Lambie up at least a dozen times a day (she sleeps a lot). Gabe (and I) take very good care of her.

It's been awhile

I thought I'd just post a couple of pictures since it has been awhile. We had a fun weekend, but I don't have any recent pictures. We went to Hawaiian Falls yesterday and had a great time. Nathan signed me up for a cake decorating class at Michael's (that I have been wanting to take FOREVER!) for my birthday. So I had that class with my friend Emma this afternoon...so much fun!
Nathan is officially finished at DTS! Hooray! He has been submitting some things and we're working on a potential move, so we're hoping good things for the future!

Post number 3 Dinosaur Valley State Park

This state park is known for the dinosaur footprints that are in the Paluxy riverbed. I don't know much about it, and we didn't stay long, but I think we stayed long enough that Gabe is now in love with dinosaurs. You'll have to look it up if you want more information (and I guess I will too).
One of the footprints.
A larger view with several footprints.

This dinosaur was built for a world fair (1960's/70's?).

Post number 2 Fossil Rim Wildlife Center

We took a little overnight trip to Fossil Rim in Glen Rose Texas last night, at least partially as an anniversary trip for Nathan and I (which happens to be today). We had such a fun time! This was one of our little campground friends (the first LIVE armadillo we have ever seen in Texas).
Here was another of our campground friends, an addax. They were fearless of cars and people and would come right up to your window like you had something to give them.
Gabe slept in a "big boy" bed for the first time! Nathan and I had to share an uncomfortable twin bed and we were both awake half the night. Fun, fun.
This was our cabin/tent from the outside. Small, but it had air-conditioning and a full bathroom inside. It was more than a lot of people in the world have!
The view from our tent.
On the scenic drive. This takes a couple hours to get through and as you will see, there are multiple animals that you can see and touch. This was our friend the ostrich. They are quite aggressive.
These emus were even more aggressive! And crazy looking! Gabe said he did not want to see anymore of these.

More of the addax.
One of the giraffe's at the car in front of us.
Now coming toward us looking for more food.
Eating out of Nathan's hand.
Eating our of Gabe's hand (with my hand underneath - he needed a little reassurance that the giraffe wasn't going to take off his hand)
Gabe at the overlook cafe waiting for lunch with his new cheetah friend.
CLOSE up to a zebra.

They were aggressive too! Nathan was quite literally pushing him out of our car at this point. We had one zebra who planted himself RIGHT in front of our car and a zebra on both sides of our vehicle trying to stick there noses in a car. One of them actually had his mouth on the inside of the vehicle and left slobber.

Another giraffe
Another ostrich - these guys cracked us up!
