18 month picture with the elephant

It's been awhile since I've taken/posted an elephant picture. This is the first time I know of that he smiled on command for a picture and he did great! It's an especially great smile in the second picture. Any votes for the favorite?

Catching up...

We've had a busy month! We spent several days in KY earlier this month and had a great time with my (Susan's) family and also we got a chance to see Nathan's parents. We celebrated my birthday and got to go to Kings Island. Gabe's favorite ride was "Azul", the train from Dora. Here he is with his Grandma and Grandpa.Last week we went to the zoo and had a nice time. Here are a few pictures from that. On Saturday we went to Hawaiian Falls and had a great time also. It took Gabe awhile to get into it, but then he didn't want to leave. I wish we had pictures of that, but we didn't bring our camera.

This morning we went to the Arboretum. I got some great pictures there! They have a display of storybook houses. We enjoyed seeing those and had a picnic lunch while we were there.

visiting a friend

My friend Rikki took these pictures while Gabe was visiting her son Charlie. They were so good, I had to post them. Thanks, Rikki!

Gabe made a new friend tonight: This riding horse. He wanted to ride on my back, and my back was tired. So I told him to ride on his horse...and he did! He rode it all over the house singing...

...and giving it kisses (though I couldn't quite catch that)...

...and giving it hugs...

...and dragging it.

Not a horse, but he enjoys riding this too.

Gabriel on the swing

Gabriel decided yesterday that he wanted to get his old baby swing out of the closet and here are the results. More pictures to follow...

cow appreciation night

Tonight we went out to Chick-fil-a dressed as cows. In case you were not aware, it was cow appreciation night, and anyone who dressed as a cow got a free meal. So was it worth the loss of our dignity to get three free meals? You bet it was.Mmmm...good chicken!
And good water (wa-wa) too!
Happy to be on the way home with a full belly (and a balloon too!)

Lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer

Our day outside today. We got Gabe a little pool. He does like water, but not so much sitting in it. Oh, and can you tell he likes his balls? He's laughing in the picture below. I promise.

Just chillin' on the swing. It was like a hundred degrees this afternoon.

On the potty! This was the first time he asked to get on the potty! I know he doesn't look very happy here, but I think he was more upset about getting his picture taken than being on the potty. He sat on it several times today. We're still working on the actual "going" to the potty, but it will come.

After getting ready for bed. Making faces for the camera this time:
He never lets those balls get too far out of his sight. It has been a recent battle to get him to put them away at bedtime.
